Collage on panel
I have an inner drive to create. What keeps me going is the pleasure in the process. We live in a fragmented world that is full of distractions. Art practice helps me focus and center myself. I find the process deeply engaging. It’s a way of forgetting the worries and distractions of my everyday life and connecting with my spirit. Fashioning an image that is whole and complete out of raw materials is deeply satisfying. Collage and mixed media, in particular, involve creating wholeness out of fragments. From painting, I learn patience, concentration and to accept and transform ‘mistakes’. I work intuitively, in dialogue with the painting as it evolves, and I enjoy the sensuousness of my materials and the surprise of where the paintings take me.
