Welcome to My Reality

“Welcome to My Reality” is part of my digital photography series, “Afterimage”, which explores the quality of light, colour, and perception. The series invites the viewers to enter a surreal realm of light made up of shifting shapes and forms, immersing them in an alternate experience of reality. The bokeh effect adds an element of mystique to the scenes, challenging the viewers to interpret the objects and places captured in the images.
“Optical afterimage” is a cognitive psychology phenomenon. It refers to an image that continues to appear in the eyes after a period of exposure to the original image. Once imprinted in our retina, the visual information we received transfers between temporary and permanent memory storage. Every time we retrieve the image, it becomes altered, distorted, and rewritten. We only see what we want to see.
